We're Havana Party: A Silent Auction to Benefit Hoover Education - March 20th Mark you calendars for the 2nd Annual Hoover Parent Foundation Fundraiser, "We're Havana Party" on March 20th, 2009. This silent auction will benefit education at Hoover Middle School and raise funds to pay for extras for our students, like new band chairs and the Homework Club. It is going to be held at one of the most gracious homes in Potomac and feature some excellent auction items. Finally, it is a great chance to socialize with Hoover parents, staff and teachers. Be sure to attend. Here are some of the wonderful items from last year: - Full orthodontic treatment from Dr. Rad
- Redskins Tickets
- Washington Nationals Tickets (with parking)
- University of Maryland Basketball Tickets
- Kennedy Center Tickets
- $2500 Gift Certificate for Carnival Day Inflatable Rentals
- Fabulous Wine
- Certificates for Resorts and Spas
- Jewelry
- Signed Sports Memorabilia
Auction donations are still being accepted. Please consider donating something for our silent auction. |

Funding Commitments for 2008-2009 Arts and Education The Foundation Board has made three funding commitments to the school so far this year. We anticipate additional funding based on the Membership Campaign and the success of the Silent Auction in the Spring. Homework Club - This after school tutoring program is taught by the Hoover staff and helps any student that wants additional assistance with their work. Approximately $7,000 commitment across the school year. Band Chairs - We purchased 70 Wenger Nota Standard Music Chairs for the band room. These special chairs are designed to help the student hold correct posture while playing. A $5,000 commitment Promethan Board - We purchased a single additional interactive teaching board for the school to voer classrooms not funded by the county. This new tool as put a spark into some of the methods used by our Teachers. Approximately a $4,500 commitment. |
