About the Foundation                                                                            

Background

The Herbert Hoover Parent Foundation was established in 2005 as a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the educational experience for children while attending Herbert Hoover and building our educational legacy.   County funds are not always available for improvements to the school’s core facilities or for new and innovative programs. These improvements can be funded through private funds however, thus the Herbert Hoover Parent Foundation.  We are run by parent volunteers and welcome any and all parents with energy, creativity and ideas for raising money! 

The Foundation has funded a variety of projects since its inception.  The Drama department received a new AV system to replace an old and ineffective one.  We have purchased musical instruments, microphones, tutoring time, magazine racks for the media center, band chairs, microscopes, promethean boards, science kits and even weight equipment for the PE department.

Working with the Hoover administration, the Foundation identifies critical school needs and decides on the disposition of the money raised.  Despite our school being rebuilt, there is no budget for several items already identified that would add a great deal of value to the school, the community and our students.  One example is an electronic sign for the front of the school.  An electronic sign is desirable to assist with disseminating information to the community about the myriad of activities and ongoing events at the school.   

What about the PTA?

People often ask how The Parent Foundation differs from the PTA. The PTA is a national organization with stricter bylaws and a focus on funding needed programs and services for the school. As a non-profit, The Foundation funds improvements to the core facility. Both are essential organizations and serve a unique purpose for the school.
